As leading international media outlets like The New York Times and The Guardian have addressed this topic, each presenting different perspectives, AI's empathetic capabilities are becoming a crucial issue that encompasses not just technological achievements but also ethical and social discussions. To date, AI has developed technologies that mimic human language and behavior by learning from vast amounts of data. Chatbots and care robots, in particular, sometimes appear to express empathetic emotions during interactions with users. According to global market research firm Gartner, 85% of worldwide customer service interactions are projected to be handled by AI-powered systems by 2025, and the emotion recognition AI market is expected to reach $37 billion (approximately 50 trillion Korean Won) by 2030. However, critics argue that this is merely the result of complex data processing, far from genuine empathy.
