When driving on a road at night, it's not just human drivers and passengers who can easily miss things. It has been scientifically proven by domestic researchers that the artificial intelligence (AI) of autonomous vehicles can also misjudge or even ignore pedestrians or obstacles under certain conditions. With the rapid advancement of AI technology, the prevailing outlook is that autonomous vehicles will play a crucial role on roads in the future, replacing human drivers. However, a study published on April 24, 2026, by a research team from the KAIST Graduate School of AI, pointed out a significant problem hidden behind this technological advancement, sounding an alarm across academia and industry. The team's paper systematically analyzed the 'decision bias' that autonomous driving AI can exhibit in specific situations and deeply addressed the resulting safety issues and ethical controversies.
